AI Search for Criminal Defense Lawyers
A frightened family grabs a phone at 2am and asks an AI who to call tonight. We make yours the name it gives.

See it live
Ask the three engines your patients use, and watch who they name. This is what a cited answer looks like when your practice is the one built to be quoted.
A live example. The tabs cycle through how each engine answers; a real practice is named and cited the same way.
What it is
AI search optimization, or AEO, is the work of getting your defense firm named and cited when someone asks an AI engine what to do after an arrest, whether to talk to the police, how bail works, or whether a public defender is enough. It structures your charge-type pages, your attorneys' credentials and your firm identity so ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity can quote you as the answer, in the frightening hours when a defendant or their family decides who to call.

Why this matters now
Search is moving from a page of links to a single answer. This is the shift your practice is being sorted by, whether or not anyone is optimising for it.
Industry figures from third-party 2026 research, directional and about the search shift itself, not this firm's results.

The same firm name, attorney list and the right category everywhere an engine looks, a criminal defense firm, in the right jurisdiction, state or federal. When your details disagree across directories and the bar listing, a model cannot be sure which firm you are, so it names one it can, often a directory reselling leads instead of you.
DUI and DWI, drug charges, assault and domestic violence, theft, weapons, white collar, federal cases, plus expungement and record sealing, each on its own page with a plain answer near the top. A model quotes the page that matches the charge, never one generic defense page that treats a DUI and a felony the same.
The trust signals an engine leans on are bar admission and a named attorney as author, with trial or former-prosecutor experience where it applies. Against a lead-broker directory with no lawyer behind it that simply resells your name, a real credentialed defense attorney is what gets your firm cited rather than the middleman.
LegalService and FAQ schema, a 40-to-60-word answer under each heading, and the questions a frightened searcher actually asks, do I talk to police, public defender or private, how does bail work, what does it cost. This is the difference between a page an engine has to summarise and one it can quote word for word.
A client or family member who was walked calmly through a terrifying process and kept informed is glad to say so, and engines pull that language into their summaries. Reviews about being defended and communicated with, never a promised outcome, feed the exact reassurance an AI reaches for when it describes a firm.
A visible review date and current content, from changed DUI thresholds to new expungement rules, tell an engine the pages are maintained. Stale firm sites get passed over on high-stakes questions, where an out-of-date answer is one the model is built to avoid.
What we do
Meet the founder
I’m Ashikur Rahman. I’ve spent the better part of a decade in SEO, most recently as Partner and SEO Manager at Doctor Rank, a medical and legal SEO agency I helped found. Every plan, every strategy and every client win there ran through me and my team. Proximity Ranker is the next step, my own agency, built the way I’ve always believed this work should be done.
I keep it small on purpose. We stay selective about who we sign and cap how many clients we take on, so nobody ends up with a template pulled from a drawer. We build your strategy around your specialty, your city and your goals. My own background is in law, an LL.B and an LL.M, and that turns out to be a real edge in YMYL niches like medicine and law, where Google and AI reward genuine expertise and trust.
Hire Proximity Ranker and you work with me, not an account manager. I look over every strategy, every author block and every AI search recommendation before it ships. Search has moved past ten blue links. Your next clients are already asking Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity who to trust, and earning a place inside those answers is the work I care about most.
Book a call and you talk to me directly, not an account manager.

How it runs
No lock-in contract. AI visibility is measurable, so you will see whether you are being named more often, on real client questions, not asked to take it on faith.
We ask the engines the questions your clients ask, do we need a lawyer or is a public defender enough, do I talk to the police, how does bail work, best criminal defense lawyer near me, and record exactly what comes back: whether you are named, which page is cited, who is named instead, a rival firm or a lead-gen directory, and where your identity disagrees with itself across the web. It returns as a prioritised list, worst gaps first. No charge and no obligation.
The heavy month. One consistent firm identity reconciled everywhere an engine looks, so a directory stops outranking you for your own name, a quotable page for every charge type that lacks one, and schema for the firm and each attorney so a model can resolve who you are and where you practise.
The foundation is in, so now we make the site quotable. Short extractable answers under the urgent questions, bail, talking to police and the public-defender question made explicit, review language about being guided calmly worked in, and presence built on the third-party legal sources these engines actually cite.
This is usually when it shows: your firm named in ChatGPT and AI Overviews on the questions that matter, more pages cited, and AI referral traffic pulled out of Direct so you can finally see it. We report on all of it.
Regular SEO earns a ranking; AI search earns a mention. An engine does not hand a frightened family ten links, it gives one answer and names a few firms inside it. That runs on different signals: a consistent identity, pages a model can quote, a licensed attorney and the third-party legal sources it trusts. The two overlap, but optimising for a blue-link ranking does not automatically get you cited.
Constantly, and often it is a parent or spouse asking, not the defendant, in the middle of the night when no office is open. They ask an AI whether to talk to the police, how to get someone out on bail, and who to call, because it is immediate and private. If the engine names three firms and yours is not one, you never enter the decision, and you never learn it happened.
It shapes the copy. The person searching at 2 a.m. is often a mother or a spouse, terrified and unsure of the process, so the pages answer their questions, bail, what not to say, what happens next, in plain language rather than legal shorthand. That is exactly the calm, quotable material an engine lifts, and it reaches the person who will actually make the call.
It can work in your favour. Directories win on Google by sheer size, but an AI engine is trying to name a trustworthy source, and a directory that resells leads with no lawyer behind it is a weaker citation than a firm with named, bar-admitted defense attorneys and real charge-type pages. Fix your identity and structure and you become the better thing for an engine to cite.
No to both, and anyone who guarantees either is not being straight with you, a defense outcome least of all. What we can do is make your firm the easiest one in your area to cite, then measure it: we track your key questions across the engines every month and show you where you are named and where you are not. The trend is what we hold ourselves to.
It helps, because some engines read Google's results, but it is not the same job, and paid clicks stop the day you stop paying. A page can rank first and still never be quoted, because it is written to be clicked rather than lifted. And when Google answers with an AI Overview above your ad, the click you paid for can disappear into a summary that names someone else. Being cited in that summary is the work.
It is one of the most common, because it is the first cost-versus-stakes decision a family faces. They ask an AI whether they really need to hire someone, and a good answer respects that a public defender is a real lawyer while explaining when private counsel adds value. A page that handles it honestly and is structured to be quoted becomes the source an engine cites, and it reaches a family at the moment they are deciding.
Three ways. We test your client questions in each engine on a schedule and log whether you are named and cited. We separate AI referral traffic out of Direct, where most of it lands invisibly. And we tie both back toward booked consultations and retained cases. You see the answers moving, not just a promise that they will.
Identity and schema fixes can change what engines say within a month or two, because those are the gaps that most often keep you out. Being consistently named on competitive charges like DUI takes longer, usually three to six months, as the pages mature and the reviews build. Anyone promising instant AI dominance is selling something.
We ask the engines your clients' real questions and show you exactly what they say today: whether you are named, which pages are cited, who is named instead, a rival firm or a directory, and where your identity is working against you across the web. Back inside 24 to 48 hours with nothing owed.
